Local Authorities Election Act (Section 26)
Local Jurisdiction: Elk Island Public Schools Regional Division No.14, Province of Alberta
NOTICE is hereby given that NOMINATION DAY is MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2010 and that nominations for the election of candidates for the office of PUBLIC SCHOOL TRUSTEE will be received at Elk Island Public Schools Central Services, 683 Wye Road, Sherwood Park, Alberta, T8B 1N2, the local jurisdiction office, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Nomination Day.
Elk Island Public Schools' (EIPS) Board of Trustees consists of nine (9) members to be elected from the following wards and electoral subdivisions. Notice is hereby given that nominations for the election of candidates will be accepted for the filling of the following offices:
- ONE (1) trustee from the western portion of the County of Minburn No. 27 Ward
- ONE (1) trustee from Lamont County No. 30 Ward
- TWO (2) trustees from Electoral Subdivision No. 1, comprised of lands within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Saskatchewan
- FIVE (5) trustees from Strathcona County, which is divided into the following electoral subdivisions:
- THREE (3) trustees from Electoral Subdivision No. 2, comprised of lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park;
- ONE (1) trustee from Electoral Subdivision No. 3, comprised of lands lying north of Secondary Highway 630, excepting those lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park; and
- ONE (1) trustee from Electoral Subdivision No. 4, comprised of lands lying south of Secondary Highway 630, excepting those lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park.

New Human Rights Legislation Impacts Education
Section 11.1 of the Alberta Human Rights Act comes into effect September 1, 2010, affirming in law a parent's ability to have their child excluded, without academic penalty, from instruction, exercises, and the use of instructional materials that deal primarily and explicitly with religion, sexuality, or sexual orientation.
