Sherwood Park, A.B. — Elk Island Public School (EIPS) is looking for the community’s input on naming the new K-9 school being built in Fort Saskatchewan.

Last year, EIPS collected a series of possible names from the community for the new school. Using that list of suggested names, the Division has narrowed it down to two shortlisted names: Southfort School or Southpointe School.

Before a final decision is made, the Division is inviting the community to participate in a brief online survey. The survey can be completed online and will remain open until March 15, 2016.

Once the survey closes, EIPS administration will review the feedback from the survey and recommend a final name to the Board of Trustees. The Board is expected to approve the name in April.

EIPS is one of Alberta’s largest school divisions, serving approximately 16,900 students in 42 schools. We are proud to be an integral part of our communities, including Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Strathcona and Lamont counties, and the western portion of the County of Minburn.
