Consultation Summary

Elk Island Public Schools thanks all parents, staff, and secondary students who participated in our calendar consultation focus groups and online survey.

The summary of the focus groups and survey results is now available. The results of this survey and the focus group conversations will inform the development of 2012/2013-2014/2015 calendar options for the Board of Trustees' consideration in December 2011.

If you have questions about our calendar consultation process, please contact Karen Richardson at 780-417-8229.

Division Calendar Survey

This year, the Board of Trustees requested a broad consultation process be undertaken to gather information from a variety of stakeholder groups regarding the development of division calendars for the next three consecutive years, beginning with the 2012/2013 school year.

The two main components of the consultation process were:

  1. A series of 19 focus group conversations were conducted with stakeholders (secondary students, parents, and staff) throughout the division in September. The input gathered from these focused conversations was used to develop the division calendar online survey.
  2. The online survey was available for parents and secondary students to complete from October 11-25.

Update on Division Calendar Consultation Process

EIPS would like to extend a huge thank you to all the secondary students, staff, and parents who participated in the focus group conversations about the division calendar. The information gathered was useful in developing the calendar online survey, which will be posted at www.eips.ca on October 11. All EIPS’ secondary students, parents, and staff are encouraged to complete the survey before it closes at 4:30 p.m. on October 25. A summary of the focus groups conversations and the survey results will be posted on the website in November. The results of the focus group conversations and survey will inform the development of the calendar options for the next three consecutive years, beginning with 2012/2013 school year, that will be presented for consideration by the Board of Trustees in December. Questions or requests for additional information about the calendar consultation process can be directed to Karen Richardson at (780) 417-8229 or karen.richardson@eips.ca.
