Trustees demonstrate commitment to education by accepting responsibility for the policies and procedures of Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS). They are elected representatives who are accountable to you, the parents, and to the community members of this school division.
Belief Statements
We believe that Elk Island Public Schools' Board of Trustees:
- Champion public education
- Promote educational excellence
- Advocates for the educational needs of all students
- Ensure accountability to the public through locally elected trustees
- Ensure local values and beliefs are supported by the selection of the Superintendent
- Support a model of civil society by promoting inclusion, accepting diversity, and demonstrating tolerance
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of education within each community
- Involve the community in building educational excellence
- Respond to local educational conditions in a timely manner
