Employee Assistance Program

Elk Island Public Schools' Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) provides services to staff members and their dependents. EAP services are available to all permanent staff (Certificated, Classified and Administrative).

The EAP is a confidential service designed to assist staff members who are experiencing job related or personal problems that affect work performance, family life, and personal wellbeing.  Counselling services provided by experienced registered psychologists can assist in addressing areas of need.

Staff with benefits are fully covered for five (5) sessions through a combination of coverage under the benefit plan and contributions by Elk Island Public Schools.  There is no cost to the employee for these sessions. An additional five sessions are covered in part by the benefit plan.

Staff who are eligible for benefits but who have declined benefits due to other coverage will be fully covered for two (2) sessions, or the coverage can be divided to "top up" other coverage an employee has.

Appointments are available weekdays and weekday evenings and can be arranged for Saturdays.  Our service provider also has a 24-hour crisis intervention service.  An after-hours voice mail service will connect you to the answering service which can put you in direct contact with a psychologist.
