Introduction
Ministik Elementary School is located in rural Strathcona County and is a place where parents and staff strive towards one common goal - providing the best possible education for all students in the school. The school has nine staff members and approximately 80 students in four homerooms for Kindergarten to Grade 6.
The school offers access to a computer lab, wireless laptops, and SMART Boards in each classroom. Students benefit from an enriched physical education program, which includes daily physical activity, swimming lessons in the fall, and downhill ski lessons during the winter. At Ministik, character education plays an important part in the relationships with each other. All stakeholders are to be treated with respect and empathy. Everyone is asked to use their conscience, have self-control, and be tolerant of the differences of others. Many traditions and activities are held to honour Ministik's rich history.
Ministik's current school core was constructed in 1951 and three portables were added in the early 1990s. In 1993, a new gymnasium was opened, allowing students to enjoy physical education in the school's first modern gym facility. After Dow Chemical donated a trailer to Ministik Elementary, a new library space opened in February 2001. In 2008-2009, the school celebrated its 100th anniversary with a grand opening of a new playground and the painting of a commemorative mural. We are proud of Ministik's history and our dedication to excellence in education.
