Early Childhood Programs

Preschool Language Program

This program is designed for children two and a half to four and a half years of age who are PUF (Program Unit Funding) eligible and have severe disabilities/delays in the area of speech, language and communication.

REACH (Resources in Early Childhood)

The REACH program is a PUF (Program Unit Funding) designated site for children ages two and a half to six years of age who have severe disabilities and who require support beyond that offered in regular ECS.

Grades 1 - 12 Programs

Communication Skills Program (CSP)

The Communication Skills Program (CSP) is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students in grades 1 to 3 with severe delays in communication skills and/or a severe language-based learning disability. The primary focus for the student in this program is the development of speech and language skills throughout all activities during the school day. The program offers a small class setting and individualized instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Students participate in the regular curriculum to the fullest extent possible and are integrated into regular classes as appropriate. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

FOCUS

The FOCUS program is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students with complex issues including severe psychiatric disorders, mental health issues and related learning difficulties. Learning and coping strategies, social skill development and support networks are key areas of focus designed to assist students in the school environment and beyond. There is a strong focus on assisting students with goal setting. A combination of small group instruction and integration are available based on individual student needs. Core subject areas and optional courses are available through a variety of instructional options allowing students to experience success. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

GOALS (Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills) Program         

GOALS is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students with mild cognitive disabilities. The focus of this program is on basic academic skills as well as life skills and social skill development. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

LINKS (Learning - Individual Needs, Knowledge and Skills) Program

The LINKS program is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students with mild to severe cognitive disabilities and/or physical/medical disabilities who require supervision and assistance in personal care, motor skills, social interaction, communication, leisure, recreation, and other aspects of daily living. The focus of the program is to meet the individual developmental needs of students and to allow them to achieve to their maximum potential for functional living. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

PLACE (Practical Learning and Community Education) Program

The PLACE program is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students with moderate cognitive disabilities and significant delays in all areas of development. Emphasis is placed on communication, self-care, basic literacy and numeracy, and personal, social and vocational skills in the classroom and the community. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

STEPS (Steps to Enhance Personal Success) Program

The STEPS program is a system special education program designed to meet the needs of students with severe cognitive disabilities who require supervision and assistance in personal care, motor skills, social interaction, communication, leisure, recreation, and other aspects of daily living. The goal of the program is to meet the individual developmental needs of students and to allow them to achieve to their maximum potential for functional living. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

Elementary Transition Program

The Elementary Transition Program is a system special education program for students in grades 4 to 6 with average to above average ability who have a diagnosed learning disability demonstrated by significant delays in one or more academic areas. The program offers a small class setting and individualized instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies with a focus on direct instruction, strategy instruction and development of self-advocacy skills. Students may be integrated into regular classes for some subjects. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

Junior High Transition Program

The Junior High Transition Program is a system special education program for students in grades 7 to 9 with average to above average ability who have a diagnosed learning disability demonstrated by significant delays in one or more academic areas. The program offers a small class setting and individualized instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies with a focus on direct instruction, strategy instruction and development of self-advocacy skills. Students attend regular classes for other subjects including options. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.

Senior High Transition Program

The Senior High Transition Program is a system special education program for students in grades 10 to 12 with average to above average ability who have a diagnosed learning disability demonstrated by significant delays in one or more academic areas. The program offers a small class setting and individualized instruction in core subjects with a focus on direct instruction, strategy instruction and development of self advocacy skills. Students may attend regular classes for specific subjects, including options. Instruction is guided by an IPP and builds on individual strengths and needs.
