Sherwood Park, AB. — Ardrossan Junior Senior High’s theatre group, Ardrossan Drama Company (ADC), is proud to present Cyrano de Bergerac, a romantic comedy written by Edmond Rostand, on March 14-17.

Cyrano de Bergerac is a classic story about two men vying for the love of one woman. Cyrano is a master of all trades, witty, proud and brilliantly accomplished but suffers from crippling insecurity. He secretly pines for a woman named, Roxanne, but believes she could never love him because of his unusually large nose. So instead, he helps his friend Christian, simple-minded but incredibly handsome, win her love by writing her romantic letters signed by Christian. Roxanne instantly falls in love Christian’s poetic charm, without realizing Cyrano is the real author.

“For the last five months, the ADC cast and crew have been working on this production and are excited to share it with an amazing audience,” says Wade Hayden, the director and a teacher at Ardrossan Junior Senior High. “It’s a story about love, hate, deception and commitment with an underlining message about appearances not always being the truth and the importance of seeing past first impressions.”

Ardrossan Junior Senior High’s ADC program offers students—in grades 7 through 12—the opportunity to develop both the artistic and technical areas of acting through practical hands-on learning. In total, 40 students are enrolled in the program, all of whom are involved in the upcoming performance of Cyrano de Bergerac. Together, through the story of Cyrano, they will entertain and delight audience members—sure to be fun for the entire family.
