Sherwood Park, AB. —Ardrossan Junior Senior High’s theatre group, Ardrossan Drama Company (ADC), is proud to present The Sting, an adaptation of the 1930s-based American caper hit film, on March 15-18.

Confident trickster, Johnny Hooker, is set on revenge for the murder of his friend, Luther, by powerful and dangerous mobster, Doyle Lonnegan. Teaming up with the greatest con artist of them all, Henry Gondorff, they plot to pull off the sting—an outrageous and elaborate con trick designed to rob Lonnegan of his fortune.

The Sting was first produced as a major motion film in 1973. The story was inspired by real-life cons perpetrated by brothers Fred and Charley Gondorff and documented by David Maurer in his book entitled, The Big Con: The story of the confidence man. Paul Newman and Robert Redford played the title characters and the film went on to win seven academy awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. David Rogers adapted the screenplay for the stage, which is now being performed around the world.

“For the last five months, the ADC cast and crew have been working on this production and are excited to share it with an amazing audience,” says Phil Zinken, the director and a teacher at Ardrossan Junior Senior High. “With a varied cast to lure you into this sharp-suited underworld of con men and scams—including twists and surprises at every turn—you won't know who's on the level and who's on the take as you watch this comic tale of deception unfold.”
