Sherwood Park, AB. — Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is looking for the community’s input on naming its new school in Sherwood Park—a K-6 school being built in the Davidson Creek area and slated to open in fall 2018.

The Division is currently collecting ideas for names through an online submission form. All suggested names should reflect the identity or history or the area and include a brief rationale. The submission deadline April 30, 2017.

To submit a possible name visit

All names submitted are being reviewed by a naming committee—made up of senior administration, the incoming principal and community members. A final recommendation will be put forward to the Board of Trustees for approval in June.

EIPS is one of Alberta’s largest school divisions, serving approximately 17,100 students in 42 schools. We are proud to be an integral part of our communities, including Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Strathcona and Lamont counties, and the western portion of the County of Minburn.
