Sherwood Park, AB. — Strathcona Christian Academy (SCA) Elementary is proud to present Disney’s Aladdin, an adaptation of the treasured animated film, on April 19 and April 20 at 7 p.m.

Performed by Grade 5 and Grade 6 students from SCA Elementary’s Choir program, Disney’s Aladdin is a heartwarming children’s production that features all the things we’ve come to love about the story—Aladdin, the street rat, who vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, and uses a genie's magic power to become a prince to marry her. The beloved Iago, Jafar, and the Genie are also featured who, with Aladdin and Jasmine, take the audience on a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and love. Students will also perform the movie’s beloved musical classics including Friend Like Me, Prince Ali and A Whole New World.

“Our students have been working on this production since January and are thrilled to be able to finally share this cherished musical with the community,” says Shelley Allen, the music director at SCA Elementary. “The story, the songs and the choreography will prove to be a truly delightful experience for all who attend.”

Launched in 2011, SCA Elementary’s Choir program offers its students the opportunity to develop acting, singing and creative-movement skills. In total, 56 SCA Elementary students are enrolled in the afterschool program, all of whom have a role in the upcoming Disney’s Aladdin production.

“The show is wonderfully familiar and concludes with an uplifting ending that’s refreshing and reminds you that dreams can come true,” says Francis Poole, the principal at SCA Elementary. “It’s guaranteed to be fun for the entire family.”
