Sherwood Park, AB. —Representatives of the media, families and community members are invited to join students from Salisbury Composite High as they offer a sneak peek into how to cut class and get away with it, by airing the beloved movie classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on September 22.

Each year, students from the school’s Sabres Active In Leadership (SAIL) program host an Outdoor Movie Night, which includes a giant white screen, snacks and popcorn. At the door, students are collecting a donation admission fee—of $5 or more. All proceeds are being donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“A major part of the SAIL curriculum includes organizing and participating in activities designed to bring the community together,” says Erin Meleskie, a teacher at Salisbury Composite High. “Students have worked hard to make the Outdoor Movie Night a success and I strongly encourage everyone to come. Bring your friends, children and neighbours—it’s sure to be fun for the entire family!”

Salisbury’s SAIL program offers students—in grades 10 through 12—the opportunity to develop their skills in leadership, project management and community outreach. Currently, 45 students are enrolled in the SAIL program, all of whom are involved in the upcoming Outdoor Movie Night.
