New Parent Guides
We have three new guides that may be of interest to your parent councils:

Getting the Most Out of Video Games Guide
Video games are a big part of both boys’ and girls’ lives, and can be a very positive experience for kids and families. As with all media, though, it’s important for parents to be involved in their kids’ video gaming and be aware of the different issues that children and teens can encounter when playing. Our new guide provides information on video game ratings, ways to pick good games for your kids, tools for avoiding unexpected charges, and tips for managing game playing in the home.

Digital Citizenship Guide for Parents
Being a parent has never been easy, but it can be very challenging once your kids start using the Internet. Even if you’re not up on the latest technologies and platforms, you have an important role — maybe the most important — in your kids’ online lives. This guide offers tips to prepare you for the conversations you need to have with your kids when they first start using digital devices and as they grow and their online activities change, and advice on what to do when things go wrong.

A Guide for Trusted Adults: Practical Tips and Tools for Supporting Girls and Young Women Navigating Life Online
The Guide for Trusted Adults is based on YWCA’s consultation with Canadian girls and young women about their concerns and the issues they face online and on social media, and the ways they want the adults in their lives to support them. The guide is designed to prepare all the adults young women turn to, including parents/guardians, teachers, mentors, health and wellness providers, law enforcement, and technology professionals, to be the trusted adults they need when they have problems online.
