Communication Skills Program (CSP)

The Communication Skills Program (CSP) is a system program designed to meet the needs of students in grades 1-3 who have persistent difficulty in the acquisition and use of spoken and written language, and great difficulty communicating with peers and/or adults because of severe/profound speech-language delays, disorders or disabilities. The program offers a combination of a smaller class setting, small group and one-to-one targeted instruction with a focus on the development of communication, speech, language and literacy skills throughout all activities during the school day. Students may be integrated into regular classes for some programming. Flexible and responsive instruction is guided by an Instructional Support Plan (ISP), builds on individual strengths and needs, and follows the Alberta Education Programs of Study, with adaptations and accommodations as necessary.

    LOCATION
    Woodbridge Farms Elementary (1-3)

Connections Program

The Connections Program is for students who have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD can result in difficulties in communication, social relationships, behaviour or learning. Although some students with ASD achieve at or above grade level, many have uneven or delayed achievement or have difficulty communicating their level of understanding with others. This program is designed to support the academic, social-emotional and self-regulation needs of students with the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. The classroom teacher receives consultative support from a multidisciplinary team and creates differentiated programming supported by an Instructional Support Plan (ISP).
