Entries in each category will be judged in two groups: grades 7-9 and 10-12. Students in both of these groups may enter the category of their choice. Entry in the 48 Hour Film Festival includes both Junior and Senior high in one group.

A documentary is a film intended to document an aspect of reality to maintain an historical record.
Research and produce a documentary on an issue, topic, or person of importance to you. In your documentary, provide insights into your subject by providing new information, identifying problems, suggesting solutions, and/or offering a unique perspective.
Create a 100% animated film using any animation style or technique.
Create a music video through visuals that accompany the music.
NARRATIVE - DRAMA/COMEDY
Create an action, drama or comdey film that includes all the elements needed to tell your story. This could include a scene or excerpt from a play.
48 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE
Last year's film challenge took place over February 19-21, 2016. This year's date to be announced.
Your challenge is to create a video based on a specific theme within a 48 hour period.
Last year students created films using the following prop and line:

How it works
Gather a crew
On Friday at 3:00 p.m. a theme statement and prop will be released and available on Facebook, twitter (@ElkFest) and right here on the ElkFest page. If you provided your email address, we'll also email you the theme directly.
Produce a script and movie based around the theme and prop
Submit your film by 6:00 p.m. on the Sunday
