2020-21 Transportation FAQs
Q. Why am I being assessed a Transportation fee?
A new fee schedule was implemented effective the 2020-21 school year in order to make transportation fees more equitable for all students who access the bus. For more information on the 2020-21 fee schedule, please see the Transportation Fees page.
Q. What is an Ineligible Fee?
If your child resides in the boundaries of Elk Island Public Schools, you will be assessed either an Eligible fee or an Ineligible Fee. Eligible Fees are applicable to students who attend their designated school and reside greater than 2.39 km to the school. Ineligible Fees are applicable to students who attend a non-designated school or students who reside less than 2.40 km from their designated school.
Q. How do I go about paying my fees for Transportation for the 2020-2021 school year?
Due to Covid-19, fees are payable online only. Fees for EIPS students can be paid by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal. For EICS and Charter students, see the Online Payments page for more information.
Q. What if I pay my fees and there is no school in the fall?
Our busing schedules are reflective of classes resuming and buses operating in the fall. In the event that the start of the school year is modified, information regarding fees will be communicated to parents.
Q. If I decide to sign up for busing partway through the school year, will my fees be prorated?
Fees are not prorated for busing service that begins partway through the year.
Q. What happened to the fees I paid for last year's busing?
Credits were applied to the 2020-21 Transportation fees. Credits were calculated based on the remainder of the 2019-20 school year as of March 16, 2020.
Q. I have a school credit showing on my child’s Parent Portal account. Can I apply it to my Transportation fees?
If you have a credit showing on your child’s School account and would like to apply it towards your child’s Transportation fees please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the email please list each child’s first and last name indication you would like the credit to be moved to Transportation. The request will be completed within 24 hours Monday to Friday.
Q. How do I access the Family Rate that I have had in the past?
The new fee schedule for the 2020-2021 school year does not include a family rate like it has in the past. This is in an effort to make transportation fees more equitable for all students who access the bus.
Q. How do I apply for a Payment Plan?
The Payment Plan is eligible for fees that are a minimum of $300 per individual or a combination of fees in the case of a family. The Payment Plan application can be accessed through the Parent Portal. See the Payment Plan page for further information.
Q. How do I apply for a Fee Waiver?
Fee Waiver applications will not be accepted until the fall.
