Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) serves approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools. We're proud to be an integral part of our communities, including Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Strathcona and Lamont counties and the western portion of the County of Minburn.

Registration in EIPS is open to all students arriving from Ukraine even if all supporting documentation is not available or is limited at the time of registration. Support is also available at the school level and through various community organizations to assist families and students get settled. 

Ukrainian families and their host families are encouraged to reach out to the local school if they have any questions. School staff will be able to assist with the registration process for the current or upcoming school year.

How To Register

Families arriving from Ukraine are welcome to register their children in Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS). Registration is open for pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. We're here to provide support and assistance in any way we can during these challenging times. 

Student Registration
If you've arrived in one of the EIPS communities—Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont County (Andrew, Bruderheim, Lamont and Mundare) or Vegreville—from Ukraine and want to register your child in an EIPS school, we're here to assist.

Step 1: Use the Find my Designated School tool to locate the neighbourhood school for your relocated address.

Step 2: Complete the New Student Registration Form for the applicable school year, uploading supporting documents if available. School staff can also provide assistance with the registration process. Contact the applicable school to ask about registration.

Unaccompanied Minors
To register a student who's arrived in Alberta as an unaccompanied minor from Ukraine, the individual who's claiming custody or guardianship should either provide evidence they've applied for temporary guardianship or should submit:

• an Alberta Court Temporary Guardianship Order;
• an Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada Custodianship Declaration; or
• a letter from a Ukrainian parent granting guardianship to a Canadian custodian. A letter of this nature may be temporarily accepted, however, it's expected the Canadian custodian will be able to provide evidence they've applied for temporary guardianship within a reasonable amount of time.
