Gathering of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Families
Once again this school year, the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education team is hosting a series of family gatherings. We’re excited to host the events in person this year. These gatherings are a time in the evening when we can meet together to share, learn and connect. All family members of all ages are welcome, and dinner will be provided at all gatherings. RSVPs are appreciated to help the Division plan accordingly.
Gathering 1:
Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023; 6–8 p.m.
James Mowat Elementary, 9625 82 St., Fort Saskatchewan
- Explore the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada: Giant Floor Map
- Dinner will be provided
- RSVP by February 10
Gathering 2:
Thursday, April 20, 2023; 6–8 p.m.
Glen Allan Elementary, 106 Georgian Way, Sherwood Park
- Art with Métis knowledge holder Connie Kulhavy
- Dinner will be provided
- RSVP by noon on April 11
Gathering 3:
Thursday, June 8, 2023; 6–8 p.m.
EIPS Central Services, 683 Wye Rd., Sherwood Park
- Land-based learning
- Teachings from Knowledge Holder Natalie Pepin
- A portion of this gathering will be outdoors, weather permitting—please dress accordingly
- Dinner will be provided
