Alternative Programs
Alternative Programs
As per Alberta Education's definition, alternative programs emphasize a particular language, culture, religion or subject matter, or use a particular teaching philosophy; but are not specialized system programs.
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) supports the provision of alternative programs as an educational choice for students and parents, and we are proud to offer these alternative opportunities for our students.
Academic Programs
Alternative academic programs within EIPS include Advanced Placement (10-12) and International Baccalaureate (10-12).
Christian Programs
Within EIPS, interested students have the opportunity to enrol in Alternative Christian (K-12) or Logos Christian (K-9) programming.
Language and Immersion Programs
EIPS offers French Immersion programming in kindergarten to Grade 12 and Language and Culture programming in German (K-6) or Ukrainian (K-6).
Outreach Programs
The Outreach program within EIPS is offered through Next Step (8-12).
Sport for Life
Sport for Life (7-9) provides students with the opportunity to enhance their skills in both athletics and academics, while also developing habits and attitudes for an active and healthy lifestyle.
