Implementation of New Boundaries
As a result of the boundary review process, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) revised school boundaries within the Bruderheim area, and these new boundaries will take effect in September 2014.
Information for Affected Families
In late January 2014, all families affected by the boundary changes received a letter and form outlining how the changes would specifically affect their family. All completed forms are due back by March 14, 2014.

Options Available for Families
Students who are not in the last grade at their current school are eligible to continue attending that school until they finish the grades offered there, rather than moving to their new designated school for the 2014-2015 school year. Once a student finishes all grades offered at the school, he/she will be directed to the new designated school for junior or senior high, as applicable.
Students who are in the last grade offered at their current school (currently in grade 6 or 9) will be directed to their new designated school in 2014-2015 for junior or senior high, as applicable.
Families that would like to register their children in a school other than their current school or their newly designated school will use the boundary exemption process. Boundary exemption requests must be submitted to the requested school between February 18 and March 14, 2014. More information about the boundary exemption request process is available on the division website.
Students who are already attending a non-designated school through a boundary exemption and those enrolled in alternative programs are not affected by the boundary changes until they complete the last grade offered at their current school.
Please refer to the boundary maps or use the Find My Designated School tool to determine your child's designated school as of the 2014-2015 school year and later.
Student Transportation
For families interested in busing, please note the following:
- For all affected students, there may be changes in transportation pick-up and drop-off for students and the time spent travelling on buses may be different than in previous years.
- Busing may or may not be available for students attending a non-designated school, regardless of whether students are choosing to remain at their current school or applying to a different school through a boundary exemption.
- If you want to confirm busing will be available before you make your decision, please contact Student Transportation at 780-417-8151 or use our online contact form before completing and submitting the enclosed form.
- If busing is available, a non-designated school transportation fee will apply. A Payride fee may also apply if you live less than 2.4 km from your newly designated school.
- Once you have confirmed the school your child will attend next year, please contact Student Transportation at 780-417-8151 to register for busing.
