As you’re aware, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is exploring how best to manage the student growth and enrolment pressures at James Mowat Elementary. Thank you to everyone who participated in Phase 1 of the public engagement process last June. The feedback received was invaluable. You can read the feedback gathered, in detail, in the What We Heard Report.

Before making any decisions, EIPS wants to continue the conversation with the community to ensure a long-term solution. As such, another public engagement meeting is planned for September 22. James Mowat families, students and community members are invited to attend to review the What We Heard Report, discuss possible solutions, share ideas and provide additional feedback.

Join us at the next public meeting: James Mowat Elementary Enrolment Pressures

Date: Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: James Mowat Elementary, gymnasium
Address: 9625 82 St., Fort Saskatchewan
*childcare provided

NOTE: Enrolment pressures affect current and future students. As such, addressing these pressures could impact both current and future James Mowat Elementary families.

If you can’t make the meeting, that’s OK. You can still submit input by completing an online survey—open from September 22 to October 3. EIPS will send the survey link to the school community, post it online and share it through social media on September 23.

All families are encouraged to read the What We Heard Report, attend the upcoming public engagement session and share their thoughts. Y Station Communications and Research, the contracted public-consultation company, will then review all the feedback gathered and compile a report—from the public engagement meetings and survey responses. EIPS will then use that information to develop a solution that best addresses the school’s enrolment pressures.

And, as always, EIPS will keep school families updated as the process progresses.
