Dear Elk Island Public Schools families,

Registration for the 2024-25 school year opens soon. Below are the details you need for the coming weeks.

Kindergarten Registration – Opens February 1
Kindergarten registration opens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 1. If your child will turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2024, you’re eligible to register them for kindergarten this fall. As in past years, the registration process is all online. You’ll be able to access the registration form on the Kindergarten Registration page on the Division website as soon as it’s published on February 1. Step-by-step instructions for the registration process and the list of supporting documents you’ll need to submit with the registration form are available on the How to Register a New Student page for those who’d like to gather them in advance.

Returning Student Registration – Opens February 8
The 2024-25 returning student registration process for all current EIPS students will take place Feb. 8-21, 2024. On February 8, current EIPS families will receive a Returning Student Registration 2024-25 form through Permission Click. No log in is required to complete the form.

One contact for each current PALS to Grade 11 student will receive the Returning Student Registration Form link through Permission Click. The recipient is based on which contact has been identified as the one to receive forms as listed on the most recent registration form, Correction and Verification Form or Student Information Update submitted to the Division. To review the contacts listed for each student, refer to the Student Information Update available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Only one contact can be selected to receive forms.

All current PALS to Grade 11 students in EIPS must complete the returning student registration process—whether they're continuing at the same school or moving to a new school next year:

  • if you'd like your child to attend your designated school next year;
  • if you'd like to apply to have your child attend a non-designated school next year; or
  • if your child will not return to EIPS next year.

Note: School offices are closed on February 8 and 9. Returning student registration is not a first-come, first-served process—all forms submitted prior to the deadline are considered equally. Therefore, there’s no urgency to get your form submitted immediately. Once you receive the form, if you have any issues or questions about the process, simply contact your child’s school when offices reopen the week of February 12.

Returning Student Registration 2024-25 forms are due Feb. 21, 2024.

New and Returning Students: Applying to a non-designated school?
To be considered for enrolment in a non-designated school or program in the upcoming school year, families must make that request during the new or returning student registration process. Acceptance at a requested non-designated school is based on available space. Some EIPS schools have closed boundaries because of high enrolment numbers and are not accepting registrations from non-designated students.
