Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) trustee elections are held in conjunction with local municipal elections. Cast your vote for EIPS trustee at the same time you're voting for your local town or county representative. No. Electors can vote for either public school trustees or separate school trustees, but not both. When you arrive to vote—at an advance polling station or on election day—you'll be asked which trustee ballot you'd like.

No. Voters do not need to have children in school to vote for school board trustees. All eligible voters can vote for school board trustees.

The candidates you'll see listed on your ballot will be based on where you live, not where your children attend school.

  • Within Electoral Subdivision No. 1, comprised of lands within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Saskatchewan, electors can vote for up to two EIPS trustee candidates.
  • Within Electoral Subdivision No. 2, comprised of lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park, electors can vote for up to three EIPS trustee candidates.
  • Within Electoral Subdivision No. 3, comprised of lands lying north of Secondary Highway 630, excepting those lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park, electors can vote for up to one EIPS trustee candidate.
  • Within Electoral Subdivision No. 4, comprised of lands lying south of Secondary Highway 630, excepting those lands within the Hamlet of Sherwood Park, electors can vote for up to one EIPS trustee candidate.

  • Within the western portion of the County of Minburn No. 27 Ward, the EIPS trustee has been acclaimed, so there won't be a public school board trustee election in this area. 
  • Within Lamont County No. 30 Ward, the EIPS trustee has been acclaimed, so there won't be a public school board trustee election in this area.
