Positive Relationships

Welcoming and Supportive Environments

Policies & procedures

EIPS recognizes its responsibility to ensure all students and staff are provided with welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and foster a sense of belonging. As such, the Division has established policies and administrative procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the school community, including those of sexual minorities.

National Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

National Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is an annual event marked around the world to boost awareness among students, staff, parents and community members about bullying and ways to reduce and prevent incidents of it in their schools. In Alberta, Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is recognized the third week in November each year.

Within EIPS, students and staff will spend time discussing ways to foster healthy relationships, discourage intolerance and encourage the inclusion of everyone.

Pink Shirt Day

EIPS recognizes Pink Shirt Day on February 28. Join us in wearing pink as a demonstration of our need to work together to promote healthy relationships and prevent bullying.

Being proactive in preventing bullying means we accept shared responsibility for creating and maintaining learning and work environments that are safe and welcoming for all students, their families and staff. Participating in events like Pink Shirt Day shows leadership in our schools and communities. This display of support is the foundation for creating bullying prevention strategies and modelling healthy relationships.

Show your commitment to creating welcoming, caring, respectful and safe environments that respect diversity and foster a sense of belonging by:

  • wearing pink on February 28;
  • using social media with the hashtag #PinkShirtDay; and
  • organizing and participating in Pink Shirt Day events.
